Sometimes, our reputation as one of the leading oak timber-framers in the UK will draw an architect to us: to help him/her to realise an already well-formed timber-frame design. Alternatively, it could be that an architect wants to try something new and is seeking help and advice, in order to turn a design into a plan which makes the best use of a timber frame. Finally, when we are approached by individuals, embarking on their own project, we will work with them to understand their ideas and help them to find the architect best suited to them.
Despite the UK’s long tradition of oak timber framing, there are often many technical problems to be resolved to ensure a successful and robust oak timber frame. Our unparallelled experience can be exploited by architects, when they are trying innovative designs, as it is extremely likely that we will have undertaken similar work in the past. This helps architects to get green oak timber frames to work in the way they want them to: creating a strong oak frame without visible bracing, for example. We have extensive experience of many types and uses of timber frames and a comprehensive library of reference material to which architects are able to refer.
Architects trust Carpenter Oak & Woodland because of our expertise and dependability. We also respect the role of the architect, as it is essential to any oak frame project project. We have worked with many architects to create award-winning green oak timber-framed buildings. We have a reputation for undertaking a wide variety of work, from the most traditional to the most contemporary. Both clients and architects benefit from our unbiased approach – since we don’t employ our own architects, we don’t enforce our ‘in-house design style’ on oak timber-frame projects and are always confident that we are working with the most suitable architect for each project.
