Project background

The National Arboretum at Westonbirt in Gloucesershire is home to some of the rarest and most beautiful trees in the world. The restaurant provides for thousands of visitors, particularly during the peak seasons during spring and autumn. Using a combination of a traditionally jointed Douglas fir frame, steel bracing and lots of glass the building has a spacious, contemporary feel. The unusual overhang on the eaves provides a really pleasant covered area for eating alfresco with great views across the valley and arboretum.
