Expertise and track record

Carpenter Oak & Woodland’s expertise has seen the company develop an unmatched track record in the conservation, restoration and repair of oak timber frames.

All areas of Britain have a proud heritage of oak timber-framed buildings – everything from small barns to historic buildings, such as castles. Restoring these buildings to full use is a key part of our services.

Expert oak-frame carpenters, consultants and supervisors

Our timber-frame conservation, restoration and repair work is undertaken by teams of skilled oak conservation carpenters, each highly experienced – having restored oak timber frames over many years, with some qualified to degree level in conservation. These people are led by conservation supervisors, responsible for each project.

Charley Brentnall, Carpenter Oak & Woodland’s founder and technical director, is a recognised expert in oak timber-frame conservation, restoration and repair and a leader in the UK’s oak timber-framing industry. Charley is a member of the Timber Framers’ Guild, Carpenters’ Fellowship, the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) and is a past member of the British Woodworking Federation’s British Standards Committee.
