Two new buildings are to be located on the old taxi rank in the middle of the station at Liverpool Lime Street. Set between two platforms they will provide new retail outlets, a cafe, standard class, first class and VIP lounges.
The structures comprise of large curved portals (which because of their tight radii will be made in curved glulam) and flitch beams with standard glulam columns. Most of the connections will be steel to steel i.e. flitch plate to bracket.

The contract was let in two stages. For the design stage Carpenter Oak & Woodland were appointed by the Architect to the Client’s design team as a specialist timber structure designer. Subsequently we have been appointed as the specialist manufacturing and build contractor.
We are due to start work on site in late November. Our team will be bringing all the prefabricated members in at night after the last train and carry out the erection in phases before the first train of the morning.
