Seminars for architects & engineers

Expand your knowledge with our CPD seminars and help us to introduce you to clients looking for an architect for their timber framed project.

13 March 2008 ·

“The most useful seminar I’ve attended in a long time. Other CPD organisers and speakers should sit in and learn from this excellent presentation.” Pamela Fielder, Fielder Cruse Architects, Norwich.

With so much focus on sustainable living more and more people are aware of the importance of the decisions they make. This has become very apparent in the bespoke building market. Clients frequently bring the ‘green’ issue to the table and want to be as environmentally responsible as possible with their project. Increasingly architectural practices are promoting the use of more sustainable construction, in part because they feel it is right and in part because it is where the market is heading.

Timber is the only sustainable material suitable for a primary structural frame and yet is often overlooked when specifiers lack confidence in its use. Confidence comes with understanding.

Prospective clients regularly approach us before engaging an architect for their project so we are particularly interested in forming relationships with practices that want to develop their understanding of timber frame so that we can introduce them to our projects.

Our CPD seminars help you develop your knowledge of large section timber frame and are available in 1 hour, 3 hour or full day formats at your offices or our framing yards in Angus and Wiltshire. Whilst we will always discuss your particular needs with you a typical agenda for a seminar includes:

  • Defining large section timber framing
  • Why build in timber?
  • Which timbers can be used?
  • Layouts, frame elements and jointing
  • Frame types and styles
  • Cost drivers
  • Working with shrinkage and deflection
  • Aesthetics and treatments
  • Eco credentials

To discuss your particular needs or book a CPD seminar please call Andy Parker on 01225 743089.
