Timber frame meets timber frame

We’ve teamed up with a conventional timber frame company to bring our clients a great new offering.

We are delighted to announce that we have entered into an alliance with Lomond Timber Frame, one of Scotland’s foremost conventional timber frame manufacturers. Between us the two companies can now offer an oak framed building completed up to its wind and weather tight envelope.

Conventional panelised softwood timber framing is an ideal way to build up onto a structural oak frame. It makes the best use of the post and beam oak frame as a structure by ‘hanging’ the building envelop off of it. This gives good structural and cost efficiency.

This alliance has an added bonus for specifiers and self builders because our respective technical teams take responsibility for the interface between the panelised building envelope and the oak frame. This is an area of particular interest to those who might be unfamiliar with green oak framing and how to accommodate the natural movement and shrinkage that occurs in the first few years of its life.
