Projects which we are working on right now

Oak frame for new Rosslyn Chapel visitor centre

July 2009

Since its completion in the late 15C Rosslyn Chapel has had to endure the mixed fortunes of so many ecclesiastical buildings. With the reformation and indeed some early conservation attempts the buildings fabric has suffered immensely. Despite the very best efforts of the trust and many volunteers it actually took a book and film to substantially turn its fortunes.

Wrenwood: a superb timber frame home in Cheshire

June 2008

The building combines hand-made brick, stone and glass with the building’s oak frame to form a contemporary and stunningly beautiful home. Generous windows, framed with imposing oak beams, provide ample light to the luxurious open plan design.

New oak framed home overlooking Wiltshire countryside

February 2008

With land for new buildings a scarce resource under current planning legislation a common route these days is to buy a plot with a property that is ripe for demolition. This was the long term plan for owners of a less than desirable 1970’s bungalow near Corsham, Wiltshire.

Single storey oak framed house, Wiltshire

January 2008

Despite some planning challenges and a fairly limited budget our clients were determined that they would not compromise on the quality of the their new home and they were adamant that an oak framed house was what they wanted.

Timber framed granary, Oxfordshire

October 2007

Unfortunately it is occasionally necessary for a local authority to issue an Urgent Works Notice on a building that is on their at risk register. Cherwell District Council had such a case earlier this year and asked Carpenter Oak & Woodland to carry out a survey of the building which is now under repair.

Suffolk timber frame

October 2007

Cleary the owners of Money Pot Hill Farm were thrown into a situation that none of us would wish to experience. Having lost their home and most of their belongings they had to embark on the rebuilding of a home on the site of a Grade II listed property. Little did they know that even getting permission to demolish the charred remains would prove challenging!
