Pound Cottage

This timber framed dining room forms part of a larger project the majority of which is to be built in softwood timber frame or ‘balloon framing’.

Project background

This frame is being manufactured in our Wiltshire timber framing yard during December 2006 and will go to site in the middle of January 2007.

Being built in green oak the galleried dining room will be a central feature to the house and demonstrates admirably how a timber framed extension or garden room contributes so much to an otherwise more conventionally built home.

The project manager, architect and main contractor were concerned about the detailing of the interface between the green oak frame and the timber and masonry build up on the main house. However working with our design team they were quickly able to put those concerns to rest as good, pragmatic solutions were found to each and every detail.
