The Anchor, Pyrford Lock

It is more and more the case that owners of public houses are desperate to differentiate themselves from their competition by creating pubs with an ambiance more reminiscent of the good old local than the corporate themed bar.

Project background

When the Anchor Pub in Woking was due for refurbishment the existing UPVC conservatory was targeted for immediate demolition. The project architect was keen to replace it with a well crafted oak framed extension which would exude quality and character.

Having met with a number of timber framing companies the owners and project team appointed Carpenter Oak & Woodland for their ability to create bespoke oak frames to specific requirements. For this particular project this included the extensive use of curved timbers which some of our competitors openly accepted they were unable or unwilling to use.

Now open to the public the extension provides a fitting first impression for those who arrive over the lock gates on the river Wey.
