Individual Homes November 1994

The Burlington Family had travelled widely for many years, on returning to the UK they were keen to build a timber framed house that incorporated the best of the homes they had lived in.

How our work is featured

The Burlington’s were so committed to building in green oak that following the storms of 1987 they bought up a stock of oak even though they still didn’t have a site to build on. This seven page article supported with extensive colour photography documents the project from start to finish. Unusually for a private residence it is built using a cruck frame which creates a spectacular space particularly in the living room. The entire frame was designed and built by Carpenter Oak & Woodland.
