In the December issue of Homes & Interiors Scotland is an article describing how two architects designed and had built by Carpenter Oak & Woodland their holiday retreat in what could only be described as “between a rock and a hard place” in a challenging Highland location. The Carpenter Oak & Woodland Kirriemuir team made the frame off site and also constructed a footbridge to get over the rough terrain to the front door. It was like a huge jigsaw puzzle which had to be transported 167 miles to the remote shores where access was challenging enough in itself. Sustainability was always at the forefront of the build and the couple decided early on to use traditional hardwearing green oak timber for the frame and Douglas fir for the interior.
