Kit and Modern Timber Frame Homes

The publication of Kit and Modern Timber Frames (The Complete Guide) by Julian Owen is a beautifully illustrated and invaluable book for anyone considering having a house built from timber kits or for those who wish to find out more about the design, fabrication and construction of kit and timber frame houses. This publication will be a great source of information to architects, builders, self-builders and environmentalists.

How our work is featured

The author Julian Owen who is an active member of the Royal Institute of British Architects has a wide and varied range of experience of the design and construction of timber houses. Together with Adrian Spawforth, he founded Associated Self-Build Architects (ASBA), and in 2003 he was awarded an MBE for services to architecture.

Timber frame building methods are amongst the oldest and most versatile forms and they are becoming increasing popular as governments and individuals throughout the world embrace ‘green’ issues. One of the great benefits of an oak timber framed building is the use of sustainable and environmentally friendly materials.

Carpenter Oak and Woodland have built many timber framed buildings that incorporate spectacular interiors that can be created by using traditional materials and methods of building for private homes, indoor swimming pools and kit houses which are indistinguishable from other types of bespoke homes Examples of which are featured in the Kit and Modern Timber Frame Homes pages 15, 32, 76 and 126.
