The owners of Lamper Head decided to completely restore the property into a contemporary family home. Originally built back in 1991, the building was the first new full cruck dwelling in this country for the past three hundred years.
Green oak frames for the barn-style main rooms were designed and erected using giant curving timbers from floor level to form the apex of the fifty foot long roof by Carpenter Oak and Woodland Co Ltd. This created the effect of a typical 15th century hall house, complete with a huge fireplace presiding over the room. Carpenter Oak and Woodland Co Ltd were called upon again when further frames were used throughout the property including the new green oak frame for the swimming pool which was constructed in the garden and then craned into place.
