Carpenter Oak and Woodland feature in the Build It Magazine July 2010 issue. The article called “Building with Timber” explores the advantages and possibilities of building a “Post and Beam” home. The construction method of post and beam in basic traditional terms refers to vertical posts and horizontal beams which are jointed together, usually with oak pegs, to form a frame to attach the walls. A great example of this is the home of the Brookes Family who runs an organic farm in Wiltshire, they wanted to use as many natural products as possible and chose frame specialists Carpenter Oak and Woodland to design and build a modern home using green oak post and beam. Other advantages to post and beam structures are their flexibility especially when combining stainless steel and glazing. Many architects have a particular interest in this method and encourage their clients to incorporate it in their designs.
