Carpenter Oak and Woodland are featured in the November/December 2011 publication of Church Building & Heritage Review in an article detailing the refurbishment project of St. James’ Priory in Bristol. Following many years of fundraising and after receiving a substantial Heritage Lottery Fund grant in 2007 works finally got underway to secure the Grade I listed church. Dating from around 1137, it is a surviving remnant of an extensive Benedictine priory that once existed on the site. After a full condition survey of the 14th century oak keeled wagon roof was executed Carpenter Oak and Woodland were sub-contracted to carry out the repair work. The main structural interventions considered necessary were to arrest the outward lean of the west front and to repair and strengthen the roof to avoid any further roof spread pushing the walls out further.
