The Discovery Real Time programme takes couple Andrew and Vanessa through the options of either finding a plot to build on, a property to buy or a run down home for renovation.

Our work on TV has often featured the unusual including the castaway pods on the Scottish island of Taransay where the transportation of the frames and indeed heavy lifting was done by helicopter!

Our work has featured no fewer than three times on Channel 4’s Grand Designs.

Vanessa and Andrew are both very keen on a light, spacious timber framed home but are uncertain that they can afford it. But presenter Michael Holmes talks them through their alternatives and they finally opt to build on a plot that’s set well back from the main road and has a bungalow on it that is only fit for demolition.

The researchers contacted Carpenter Oak & Woodland and asked if they could prepare plans for a new timber-framed house that could be built within their maximum budget of £120,000. Sales and marketing manager Andy Parker presents the plans and options to them during the show. The couple are delighted with the proposals and subsequently opt for the build option.
