Building styles

Green oak is a highly flexible building material, able to be used to great effect within the most traditional and the most contemporary of designs.

The UK has a long tradition of building using timber – especially oak – and of making timber work in a wide variety of ways.

From the most traditional to the most modern oak frames

We’re experienced at working with a range of design styles, both ancient and modern – from medieval designs (such as the traditional oak cruck frame) through to Victorian (such as the use of king posts) and right up to something entirely modern – mixing oak timber with contemporary materials, such as stainless steel plates, cables and glass.

A bespoke approach to create individual solutions

Because everything which Carpenter Oak & Woodland builds is totally bespoke, we are able to build in a wide range of oak frame styles – we don’t have a fixed set of oak frame designs or prescriptive design beliefs. Our aim is the same as yours – to get the most visual impact and functionality from the use of timber.
