Project background

This contemporary oak frame home, in the style of a traditional English Barn, was designed by architect Rod James, and featured on Channel 4’s Grand Designs. The frame consists of wood from around forty managed oaks – and the timbers are held together in the traditional way, using wooden pegs. Although the frame took weeks to make, it was assembled on site in just three days.
