One of the joys of the work we do at Carpenter Oak & Woodland is the enormous variety of the oak frames we build. Whilst our expertise in timber framing and timber engineering is invaluable to our clients the design of their home should be unique to them. To us excellence means designing, making and erecting a timber frame that gives the look and feel to the building that the client wants, within the budget they have.
This oak framed house in Ireland recently featured on the Discovery Real Time programme, Build, Buy or Restore. It has a spectacular curved roof but the rest of the frame uses only straight timbers, unlike a more traditional frame that will use curved braces for example. This simple adaptation gives the building a far more contemporary feel.
