The exterior faces of green oak turn to a soft silvery grey with weathering and the passage of time and quickly blend in to their surroundings. As such they are generally fairly well regarded as an option by local planning and conservation officers. Glazing directly onto the green timber is perfectly acceptable as long as the system is well detailed.
