Oak frames lend themselves well to a one an half storey layout but the frame design is crucial to get the maximum use of the space available as well as the right look and feeling in the finished home. The sling braces you can see in the photographs here are ideal for bringing the frame into the living space without impeding on it excessively. Here they bring a very traditional aspect to an otherwise contemporary interior. With just the main timbers visible the heavy structure of the frame is emphasised without excessive timber ‘clutter’.
