The extensively timber framed stairway and hall make a fabulous centre piece to the house with the atrium roof showering light into it. The frame for the sitting room is an aisled king post truss allowing a wide span to be accommodated but also bringing the frame into the living space. Some post and beam frames are designed such that largely the timbers sit tight to the walls and ceilings, however this style means that the occupants get a much greater feeling of living within the frame. In addition to the main house Carpenter Oak & Woodland designed and made the garden room on the opposite side of the lake. An ideal retreat for moments of peace and tranquillity, although it’s hard to see why one would want to leave such a wonderful house.
