Oak timber-framed buildings for swimming pools come with their own unique challenges – many of which can be met only by the most expert oak timber-framers.
Swimming pools require roof spans which are quite wide for oak timber frames – often in excess of 10 metres. Where other companies are unable to work to this width, we can handle this type and size of oak timber frame with ease, because we really understand how to engineer all forms of timber, especially oak. We can usually find an all-timber solution, where others have needed to introduce hidden or visible steel into the frame, to give it the structural strength.
An oak timber-framed swimming pool can be both intimate and epic at the same time
Again, with glazing, many companies lack the expertise to glaze directly into green oak frames (some say it can’t be done, and recommend rebated solutions which could break the glass, or the seal, when the oak timber frame shifts). We use a proven system for glazing on to the outside of the oak frame, allowing for the oak frame’s natural movement. We also use a certain grade of timber, specifically chosen for its minimal movement, to be extra sure of the longevity of the building.
Although we don’t provide the pool itself, we work closely with several swimming pool specialists, so can always help our customers to find the right pool designer to meet their needs.
