When we make a king post trust we have a number of options for forming the tenon to the tie beam. Whichever we use we’re trying to put a small amount of upward lift into the tie beam so that once the frame is loaded (with roof tiles etc) the small amount of sag that is inevitable actually brings the tie beam back to level. In this joint the tenon is carried right through the tie beam and wedged.
