Although the buildings themselves are largely concrete, much of the character of the completed buildings comes from a grid of massive green oak posts and beams to the fascias which support modular balconies of timber, steel and glass.
On first glance a simple project, however it provided a number of challanges. Firstly the length of the timbers, combined with their propensity to twist slightly over the length when cut, meant that cutting of the slots and bolt holes needed to be extremely precise. Secondly, the framework being the last piece to go up, it needed to cater for the inconsistencies, (and dare we say it ,errors) in the concrete.
