Headland House is an incredible structure designed by David Kirkland and built around a complex geometry of curves with differing radii over all three dimensions. While a modestly proportioned 2 bedroom house, it is incredibly imposing, and shows off all the various materials – timber glass and brick – to great effect.
The primary structure comprises of 19 large ribs of varying sizes which provide the backbone and the principal rafters. These were specially made from kiln dried oak laminated together in our Chippenham yard before shaping to their finished size.
