Lauder College, Dunfermline

ECOSpace at Lauder College in Dunfermline provides a 1600m² teaching facility for the construction and energy departments and the ASPIRE Centre for students with physical and learning difficulties

Project background

As main contractors Muir Construction subcontracted Carpenter Oak & Woodland to design, manufacture and erect the primary structure. The timber frame is made from a combination of green Douglas fir, glue laminated Douglas fir beams and steel connections and bracing. Renowned international architects RMJM designed the scheme and worked in collaboration with us on the frame design. The building was opened in September 2006 and the feedback from the colleges students has been extremely positive because is provides a fabulous learning environmentan that is congruent with their studies.
